Mark Sippola Photography - I See in Black and White

Mark Sippola is a photographer based in Mission, British Columbia concentrating primarily on black and white landscape and seascape images.

I work almost exclusively in black and white due to the fact that I am colour blind.

I don’t consider colour blindness to be a deficit. On the contrary, it allows me to see the world in a way that may not be apparent to the normally sighted person. In my world, the colour of a scene is almost meaningless, and instead I see the world for its contrast, light and shapes. This gives me a unique perspective that forces me to work within my so called, limitations, and create images that reflect my own personal view of the world.
